About

ABOUT KIM:  Saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), I’m blessed in marriage to my high school sweetheart.  I’m the proud Momma to my two children.  And it is my joy to be home full~time to care for my family and our home.  Completing our family are our two Labs who came into our lives through animal rescues.

I love to cook and bake…  reading more cookbooks than books!  I’ve found that as the manager of my home, one of the most important things I can do for my family is to take the time to plan, make and serve meals around our table.  Over dinner by the warm glow of candles is where the story of our day is shared with one another.

With a love of cooking comes a need for exercise.  In 2011 (through WW) I was able to make a much needed drop in weight.  But, it wasn’t through changing my eating habits alone.  I found that I also needed to incorporate exercise into my life.  I began running using the Couch~to~the~5K program.  Today, I run when my cranky back allows me to.  But I’m also finding new ways to incorporate exercise like walking and yoga.  In addition, our family is striving to transition to Clean Eating and learning new ways to enjoy cooking and baking.

Photography is a hobby that is certainly a learning process, but a fun one nonetheless.  In 2012, with the help of lessons, I made the leap out of auto-mode.  Learning how the camera operates, how to manipulate the settings for the best shot, composition and editing give me plenty to work toward.

I love coffee.  It probably wouldn’t be an understatement to say that’s it’s an addiction.  I like to read and it’s my goal to trade some screen time for more book time.  What I love most of all is spending time with my family and friends.  I love when my home is filled with good food, long conversations, games, and laughter.

ABOUT THE BLOG:  Blogging has long been a hobby….  But it wasn’t until the summer of 2010 that I jumped in with both feet.  Some of you may remember that this site began as Quit Eating Out.  With a love for cooking and baking I started blogging to share the recipes I enjoy making in my kitchen for my friends and family. But in 2011, as I had reached my highest weight and committed to weight loss and exercise to course~correct, I  changed the blog to Recipes To Run On.  In addition to recipes, I also began to share my journey of weight loss through Weight Watchers and my goal to exercise as I started running.

In 2012, the final change was made to the blog as it became At Home With Kim.  Though it’s taken a few tries, this is what fits the best and allows me to let my hair down and just be me.  I am also enjoying the community that is forming here.  It’s my goal that this blog become a place where we can share tips and exchange ideas on ways we can become our best selves to the benefit of those placed in our lives.

Hi Kim! I stumbled upon your blog from a comment you left on LifeAsMom. I found the title “RTRO” interesting, so I thought I would check it out. As I read your “About” section and a post “running – what i’ve learned (so far)”, I thought I was reading about me!!! Of course with some variation. I havent been as successful with WW, I live in California (looks like you live somewhere colder), and I probably need to work on being more spiritual. BUT, I too, have a love/hate relationship with running, I am married 6 years, have a daughter and son, two dogs, and scaled back my career after the birth of my kids (not completely but I am able to work from home with a flex schedule). I also love coffee too much (wine, too) and I love photography and don’t know what i am doing with my Nikon from Costco.

I look forward to following your blog and hope to gain some inspiration (I have already)! I probably need to read your “Couch to 5K” post/training plan…..as i used to run and completed many 1/2 marathons and 4 marathons pre-children….but need a “kick in the pants” to start taking care of myself so I can be my best when I take care of the ones I love most!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and your Family!

Hugs to you, Christine

Hi Christine!

Thanks so much for your note!!! How’s the running and photography coming along? My back is not cooperating with long runs… so my 1/2 marathon I planned for is “off”. But one day! :-)

Hi! Came upon your blog from (In) Courage. The title intrigued me a bit. I enjoy running some, but my hubby of almsot 8 years loves it. Am trying to get in shape to run my first 5K. I know I can do it as I walk 2-5 miles daily.

Looking forward to blogging with you & learning more as we go.

Blessings in 2012!
